Positive socio-economic results

In October and the first ten months, Việt Nam saw positive advancements in socio-economic development and recovery.

From January to October, industrial production increased by 13.7% against the same period of 2009 and even higher than the year plan (12%).

Việt Nam earned approximately US $57.8 billion from exports, up 23.3% compared to the same period of 2009, quadrupling the NA’s preset norm. The excess of imports over exports dropped to 16.45% of the export turnover, the lowest for recent years.

In October, the Government instructed ministries, agencies and local authorities to secure safety and provide emergency relief to people in flood-ravaged Central provinces.

The Government allocated VND 730 billion and 14,000 tons of rice to the victims.

Also in last month, Việt Nam successfully hosted the 17th ASEAN Summits and related summits which helped to raise the country’s status on regional and international arenas.
