Ahead of the beginning of the session, PM Phuc, together with the Deputy PMs and leaders of ministries, sectors and localities, observed a minute’s silence in remembrance of the people, officials and soldiers who died in floods this month.

Speaking at the meeting, the PM emphasized that constant storms in the central region have caused huge losses of life and property this year.

So far, storms have left 230 people dead and missing, many of whom are army officers, including two generals.

This year, natural disasters have dealt a big blow on the people in central localities, but in such circumstances, the drastic directions of agencies and units, especially army forces, in the work of overcoming consequences have been clearly demonstrated, PM Phuc said.

According to the meeting agenda, the Government will focus on discussing and thoroughly assessing the socio-economic situation in the first 10 months of 2020, the results of implementing its Resolutions No. 01 and 02, and the realization of the dual goal of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring socio-economic development.

Cabinet members will also look into the proposal to develop a draft law on amendments to the Statistics Law, and comment on the import tax and value added tax policies when donating ventilators for the pandemic fight. In addition, the Government will hear reports on the implementation of Resolution No. 17 on e-Government, the performance of the PM’s Working Group, and a number of other important tasks./.
