HCMC major to decide railway project investor
VNGOVNet – Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng on December 29, 2006 gave a direction regarding the transfer of powers to decide the investor for the “Hồ Chí Minh City inner-city railway, Bến Thành-Suối Tiên section, project.”

Under his direction, the HCMC People’s Committee Chairman was appointed to decide investment and select an investor for the project in line with the stipulations of the September 29, 2006 Government Decree coded 112/2006/NĐ-CP which revises partly Decree 16/2005/NĐ-CP on project investment and construction management and Decree 131/2006/NĐ-CP dated November 09, 2006 on the Code of ODA management and use.

The 19.7-km Japanese-funded inner-city railway from Bến Thành to Suối Tiên has a cost of US$ 702 million, including 85% in Japanese ODA loans with work scheduled to launch in early 2008. |
