Residents in Ho Chi Minh City get food relief in COVID-19 pandemic time

The decision was made in response to complaints lodged by local residents about not getting relief aid during social distancing time.

On the other hand, people who intentionally incite others to cause insecurity in the city will be strictly punished.

Ho Chi Minh City is the epicenter of the ongoing COVID-19 wave in Viet Nam. The city has applied social distancing measures at different levels since May 31.

It established a wellbeing center and prepared at least 2 million support packages worth VND1.8 trillion for people struggling difficulties aside from a government’s relief package of VND26 trillion ($1.13 billion) that came out in July in order to help the poor as well as businesses hit by the pandemic.

In addition, the government used the national food reserve to provide the metropolis with 14,549.29 tons of rice relief.

The HCMC Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs reported that HCMC Social Support Center, located in BinhThanh district welcomed over 1,000 homeless individuals since August 23. It has also received 330 drug addicts without permanent residence. All of them received proper medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic./.
