In the first phase from January to March 2010, 1000 ginkgo biloba trees will be planted.
Ginkgo biloba trees, widely known as environmental friendly ones, have been grown in quite a few countries including Japan, China, Germany, and Italy.
Earlier, the municipal authority had allowed the Green Area and Park Company to receive cherry blossoms from Japan and grow them in the Nghĩa Đô Park and along Thụy Khuê Street.
Since February 2007, the city started to select and plant some certain trees along main streets, such as dracontomelum in Hai Bà Trưng, Đinh Tiên Hoàng, Lê Thái Tổ, Hàng Bài, Phan Đình Phùng Streets, flamboyant in Lý Thường Kiệt Street, white cheesewood in Ngô Thì Nhậm, giant crape-myrtle in Hàng Bạc, Cầu Gỗ, and Saraca in Lê Đức Thọ Street.
The program is supposed to embellish the capital city which will celebrate its millennium next year.
