The project, coming into operation by 2014, will have a capacity of processing 75 tons of industrial waste per day to generate 1,930 kWh of electricity.
It is expected to improve the capacity of processing industrial waste in Hanoi and establish a model of treating waste for other cities and provinces in Vietnam.
The project costs US $29.2 million, of which US $22.5 million will be funded by Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
