Hà Nội accelerates export in second half

In the second half of 2009, Hà Nội places importance on such potential exports as furniture, building materials, handbags, umbrellas, and fine art products

The city will focus on exporting such products with high added value and growth rates as woodwork, building materials, handbags, suitcases, umbrellas, handicraft and fine art works, while maintaining shipment of key exports, including agro-produce, garments, electrical and electronic appliances, and footwear.

The city will center on the export markets having tax incentives, especially the ASEAN, China and Japan, seeking for new potential markets such as Africa, the Middle East, West Asia and South Asia, and further tapping the traditional markets, including the US and the EU.

In the second half of this year, Hà Nội will send more business delegations abroad to attend fairs, assist enterprises in trade promotion, provide them with updated market information, and organize more training courses on credits and customs-related policies.

Due to the global economic recession, the city’s export turnovers stood at only US $3,120 million in the first half of this year, seeing a year-on-year drop of 9.9%.
