VGP- The Hai Phong Party Committee has freshly issued a resolution on science-technology development for the city's industrialization, modernization and international integration by 2020, with a vision toward 2030.

Accordingly, by 2020, Hai Phong strives to become one of the centers for science-technology research and application in the Northern coastal area and the nation, narrowing the gap in the field with other countries in the region.

By 2030, the city will be one of the leading research centers in the country, with some fields meeting international standards, especially the maritime.

In the short term, the city will focus on research, application and development of high technology, IT, biological technology, automation technology, new material technology, renewable energy technology and the environment.

It aims to increase the value of hi-tech products and applicable technology up to 30% of total industrial production that makes up 45% of the city's GDP by 2015 while speeding up technology and equipment renewal at a rate of 20 - 25% a year.

Over the years, Hai Phong has interpreted the Resolution on science-technology development adopted at the 6th meeting of the Party Central Committee (11th plenum) into deed, having achieved practical results in accelerating its socio-economic development.
