Addressing an investment promotion conference for the Mekong Delta province on September 28, the Government leader highlighted the need to create a real working motivation for public officials, using the satisfaction of the people and businesses as a measurement of the work quality.

He urged the province to focus on restructuring agriculture in adaptation to climate change, re-organizing the production following the models of cooperative economy and new-style cooperatives, and effectively promoting the linkages between farmers, scientists, businesses and the State.

The PM noted that Hau Giang should pay attention to developing businesses, which remains the province’s weak point as there is only one enterprise per nearly 400 people in the locality, much lower than the national average level of one enterprise per 130 people.

The province also needs to give special care to environmental protection and sustainable development, and resolutely must not trade off the environment for economic growth, he stated.

PM Phuc asked investors and enterprises to apply long-term and sustainable business strategies in the province, uphold their awareness and sense of responsibility in environmental protection, and coordinate more effectively with the local government in order to address any arising obstacles.

As for the Government, he affirmed the determination to maintain macroeconomic stability and control inflation, in addition to building a facilitative Government of integrity and action in service of the people and businesses.

Within the framework of the conference, the Chairperson of the Hau Giang provincial People’s Committee granted investment licenses and signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation with localities and businesses.
