Health Ministry confirms five more COVID-19 infection cases, total increases to 212

VGP – The Ministry of Health on April 1 has confirmed five new COVID-19 infection cases, raising the number of COVID-19 patients in Viet Nam to 212.

Patient 208 is a 38-year old female employee of Truong Sinh Company which provides food and logistics services to Ha Noi’s Bach Mai Hospital.

Patient 209 is a 55-year old woman residing in Long Bien District, Ha Noi. She was in close contact with patient 163 who visited her grandmother in at the neurology department of Bach Mai Hospital.

The above two cases are among 36 COVID-19 patients linked to a COVID-19 cluster at Bach Mai Hospital, including 24 employees of Truong Sinh Company, two nurses.

Patient 210 is a 26-year old woman residing in Can Loc District of the central province of Ha Tinh, returning from Thailand on March 20.

Earlier, she had been in close contact with patient 201.

She is being treated at the locality's Center for Disease Control.

Patient 211 is a 23-year old female student from Ha Noi. She returned to Ha Noi on March 20 from the US after transiting in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Bangkok (Thailand).  

She has been treated at the General Hospital of Ninh Binh Province.

Patient 212 is a 35-year old woman, residing in Hung Ha District of the northern province of Thai Binh. She and her husband were on flight SU290 from Russia to Viet Nam on March 27.

The pair has been brought to quarantine facility in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

On March 29, she had midl fever and was tested positive for the virus.

Among 212 COVID-19 patients confirmed so far in Viet Nam, 60 have recovered and exited hospitals.

Viet Nam has began nationwide social distancing within 15 days, starting 00:00 on April 1, with the principle of every household, village, commune, district and province going into self-isolation, according to the latest directive signed by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc./.
