Health ministry reports 5 more coronavirus infections, total rises to 66

VGP - The Ministry of Health has confirmed five more infections of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Viet Nam, bringing the total patients to 66.

They are the 62nd, 63rd, 64th, 65th and 66th cases, including two Vietnamese students returning to Ha Noi from the UK, and three residents in Ho Chi Minh City.

The 62nd patient, aged 18, is a Hanoian, who arrived in Van Don airport in Quang Ninh Province on a Viet Nam Airlines flight on Monday.

He is being treated at the Viet Nam-Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi Town of Quang Ninh.

The 63rd patient, aged 20, is also a Hanoian, arriving at Noi Bai International Airport on Thai Airways flight TG564 on March 15.

She is now being treated at the Campus No. 2 of the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi's Dong Anh District.

The 64th is 36-year old woman residing in Ho Chi Minh City's District 8. She returned from Switzerland after transiting in Dubai before landing at Tan Son Nhat Airport on Emirate Airlines flight EK392 on March 12.

On March 16, she was taken to a medical center in District 8 for centralized quarantine and was confirmed positive for the virus on March 17.

The 65th patient is a 28-year-old woman residing in Ho Chi Minh City's Go Vap District. She works for TOTO Viet Nam Co. Ltd at No. 1A Pham Ngoc Thach, Ben Nghe Ward in District 1.

On March 7 and 10, she had been in contact with two men at workplace. The two men were tested positive last week in the city.

She felt tired on the morning of March 10 and her company shut down in the afternoon of the same day.

She has been quarantined at a field hospital in Ho Chi Minh City's Cu Chi District since March 13.

The last patient is a 21-year old woman residing at No. 107 Nguyen Duc Canh in Ho Chi Minh City's District 7.

On March 14, she traveled from the US to Toronto, Canada, and transited in Taiwan on Eva Air's flight BR 395.

Of the total confirmed patients in Viet Nam so far, 16 have been discharged from hospitals while all the rest have been confirmed since March 6./.
