ICT helps promote competitiveness

VGP - Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam has affirmed that Viet Nam could not be a bystander in the rapid IT development process at the Viet Nam – ASOCIO ICT Summit 2014 in Ha Noi on October 29.

He said that ICT could help all individuals to seek their opportunities and both developed and developing countries in this field can elevate their competitiveness through the field, contributing further to the global value chain.

Together with incontrovertible trends of peace, cooperation and development, the world is facing dangers of conflicts, diseases and climate change, requiring each country and region to find out fresh driving force of development with ICT playing an important role.

The certain and indispensable convergence of social networks, personal mobile phones, and cloud computing, would surely create a new growth basis in which all individual values ​​would be promoted at most, Deputy PM Dam said.

He affirmed opportunities brought by ICT to Asia and Oceania, which are considered as the most crowded and dynamic regions in the world.

Efforts of the ICT community to warn and address actions causing information insecurity will help inspire creativity and realize the dream of a faster and more sustainable development for a bright future when people can benefit further from ICT, Deputy PM Dam added.

After the opening, eight panel discussions were held, focusing on IT – agricultural restructuring, IT – a new development method to improve the efficiency of public services, and SMAC – a platform for smart technology development.

The summit attracted over 700 senior officials of IT associations and companies from 20 leading economies in Asia and Oceania. It is the largest international event for ICT in Asia and Oceania held by the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) in each regional country annually.

This is the second time Viet Nam has hosted the event.
