Minister of Finace Dinh Tien Dung holds a working session with CEO of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Philippe Houerou, Ha Noi, August 14, 2019

CEO of the IFC Philippe Houerou made that statement on August 14 at his working session with Minister of Finace Dinh Tien Dung.

The meeting also attracted the participation of World Bank (WB) Country Director to Viet Nam Ousman Dione, representatives of the IFC in Viet Nam and leaders of agencies under the Ministry of Finance.

At the event, Dung expressed his thanks to the WB and the IFC for their active assistance for Viet Nam’s economic development through loan and technical assistance programs, especially in tax, customs and State budget management, which has helped stabilize the macro-economy and gradually reform policies and institution.

Philippe Houerou was delighted with the nation’s economic development over the recent years, adding that the nation has full potential of developing agriculture, financial service, manufacturing and tourism.

He supposed that the energy sector must ensure to catch up with the nation’s growth rate and attract more investment from the private sector and ensure harmonious interests for people.

The IFC and the WB are willing to support the country in building a legal framework to select investors to carry out PPP projects, including infrastructure development ones, he said, affirming that the IFC is willing to share international models and practices with the Ministry of Finance to meet demands for economic development in the time ahead.

He hoped that the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Finance to back and allow the IFC to issue Lotus Bond of the IFC in Viet Nam.
