In Tokyo, PM Dũng holds talks with Japanese counterpart

VGP – Sitting for talks with the host counterpart Yukio Hatoyama in Tokyo on Saturday afternoon, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng hailed the new government of Japan for continuing to offer Việt Nam with big ODA packages.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng highly spoke of the Government of Japan’s initiative to organize the 1st Mekong-Japan Summit, pledging that Việt Nam will tightly shake hands with Japan and other Mekong sub-region countries in realizing the agreements reached at the Summit.

The two PMs exchanged their opinions on the bilateral ties and some international issues of common concern.

They agreed to further consolidate and strengthen the strategic partnership between Việt Nam and Japan.

The leaders pledged to continue exchanging delegations at all echelons in order to better mutual trust and understanding.

They agreed to organize the 3rd meeting of the Việt Nam-Japan Cooperation Committee soon to discuss specific measures for closer comprehensive cooperation.

PM Yukio Hatoyama underlined that Japan will actively work with Việt Nam in implementing big projects, such as the North-South Highway, the trans-Việt Nam Express Railway and the Hoà Lạc Hi-tech Park.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng asked the Japanese Government to increase scholarship for Vietnamese students.

After their talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of the diplomatic note on an urgent budget aid worth of US $500 million.

Earlier, on October 26, in Hà Nội, Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Võ Hồng Phúc and Japanese Ambassador Sakaba Mitsuo inked a diplomatic note on Japan’s preferential credits valued US $704 million for Việt Nam.
