The two-day meeting reviewed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on drug prevention and fight signed at the 10th meeting in Cambodia, and defined approaches and measures to expand cooperation in drug control along their shared borders.
The meeting also discussed the importance of help and assistance provided by countries and international organizations in raising the public awareness of harmful effects of drugs, and proposed the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime continuing to provide the three countries with financial and technical assistance via projects on bolstering cooperation on drug control along their shared borders.
At the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation, led by Lieutenant General Phạm Quý Ngọ, Deputy Minister of Public Security, highlighted the anti-drug achievements Việt Nam has gained, shared relevant experiences, and proposed localities sharing borders encouraging their residents to join hands in drug prevention and fight.
Việt Nam signed with Laos and Cambodia, respectively, the minutes on drug prevention and fight for 2012.
