VGP - Cambodia-Laos-Viet Nam Development Triangle Area was established in 1999, covering 13 provinces of the three countries and seven fields of cooperation.

December 09, 2020 12:28 PM GMT+7

Initially, the Development Triangle Area had 10 member provinces namely Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Dak Nong (Viet Nam); Sekong, Attapeu and Saravan (Laos); and Stung Treng, Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri (Cambodia).

The number of member provinces rose to 13 following the admission of Viet Nam’s Binh Phuoc Province, Laos’ Champasak Province and Kratie of Cambodia in 2009.

The group aims to strengthen the solidarity and cooperation among the three countries while ensuring security and political stability as well as promoting poverty reduction and socio-economic development in the area.

So far, Viet Nam has invested in 49 projects in Cambodia's member provinces with a total registered investment of US$ 1.63 billion and 67 projects worth US$1.97 billion in Laos.

Meanwhile, five Vietnamese localities in the Development Triangle Area have attracted 233 projects worth US$ 2.3 billion from 20 countries and territories./.
