Infrastructure development vital to achieving SDG, DPM says

VGP – Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh called for a comprehensive approach to ensure adequate resources for infrastructure development in order to realize United Nations’ sustainable development goals.

Binh stressed the point while addressing the 10th Regional Conference of the Anti-Corruption Initiative for Asia-Pacific in Ha Noi on December 6.

Such approach is essential for Asia-Pacific as the region needs huge amount of around US$900 billion for infrastructure development – a vital factor for achieving other sustainable development goals , Binh said.

This approach aims to encourage resources from domestic and foreign private sector and pushes for effective, transparent and sustainable use of these resources.

For Viet Nam, infrastructure development remains a key component of the country’s socio-economic development strategies over the last different stages, according to the Deputy PM.

He affirmed that Viet Nam will continue to direction of advancing synchronous infrastructure development in the next decade in favor of fast and sustainable development.

To realize the direction, Viet Nam will focus on strengthening private sector’s involvement in infrastructure development through public-private partnership model, Binh said.

The country will also develop a mechanism to monitor infrastructure development tasks, especially investment and project implementation process.
