Italian PM to visit VN

VGP – Italian PM Matteo Renzi and his spouse will pay an official vissit to Viet Nam from June 9-10 at the invitation of PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr. Matteo Renzi will be the first Italian PM to visit Viet Nam since the two countries set up diplomatic ties in 1973.

The two sides upgraded the bilateral relations to strategic partnership in 2013 and signed an action plan to realize the Joint Declaration on Viet Nam-Italy Strategic Partnership in the 2013-2014 period.            

The two-way trade value reached US$3.5 billion in 2013 compared to US$2.8 billion in 2012.

In terms of investment, Italy poured nearly US$260 million in the Southeast Asian country. The Italian Government considers Viet Nam as one of the 10 prioritized emerging markets for expanding trade and investment linkages./.
