President Nguyễn Minh Triết stated that the Việt Nam–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) which came into effect since October 1, 2009 is an important document and it will surely help to perfect the legal framework for further economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
He took the occasion to hail the Government of Japan’s decision to increase its ODA for Việt Nam in 2009, including an aid of US $500 million declared by Japanese PM Yukio Hatoyama in late September.

The Vietnamese head of state confirmed that Việt Nam commits to effective use of the funds.

He expressed his confidence that the Việt Nam-Japan relationship will become a real strategic partnership, for the sake of the two peoples as well as for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

With its political stability, a large market, and a long-lasting culture, Việt Nam remains a safe and promising destination for foreign investors and tourists, said President Triết, calling for more Japanese enterprises to Việt Nam.
