The Japanese
Government pledges to give Việt Nam
the second ODA package of ¥25.822 billion in the fiscal year 2009 which will
terminate in March 31, 2010.
The new sum
brings Japan’s
ODA commitment in 2009 to the ever biggest figure of ¥145.613 billion.
The money
will be poured into five major projects, namely the terminal of the Nội Bài International
Airport (¥12.607 billion); the road from the Nhật Tân Bridge to the Nội Bài Airport
(¥6.5 billion); Cần Thơ Bridge (¥4.6 billion); National Highway 1, section from
Cần Thơ to Cà Mau (¥1.03 billion); and infrastructure development of the Hòa
Lạc Hi-tech Park (¥1.005 billion).
At the
signing ceremony, Minister Võ Hồng Phúc stressed that Japan’s ODA loans will help to promote Việt Nam’s
economic growth.
“We pledge to
direct investors to complete the projects on schedule with a view to securing
practical results of the loans,” said Mr. Phúc.
