Japanese PM visits Vietnam
VNGOVNer – In the afternoon of November 19, a formal reception for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, his wife and a Japanese high-ranking delegation was held solemnly at the Presidential Palace. This was the first official visit to Vietnam by Mr. Shinzo Abe since he took office as Japanese Prime Minister in September 2006. After the reception, the two sides had talks at the head office of the Government.

The two Prime Ministers exchanged their views about bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common interest. PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s official visit to Japan one month ago and his Japanese counterpart’s Vietnam visit now manifested the two countries' commitment to strengthening and broadening their cooperation as top priorities in their consistent policies.

The two sides agreed to promote negotiations in order for the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement to be signed soon and to establish the Vietnam-Japan Cooperation Committee. They discussed the construction of an expressway and an express railway running from North to South of Vietnam and the Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park. In an atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding and openness, the two sides reached a consensus on other important issues.
Leaders of Vietnamese and Japanese groups and enterprises then discussed specific plans to realize the commitments made by the two countries' leaders and governments.
