Leaders confirms VN’s desire to build a stable partnership with Denmark

VGP – Both Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh and PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, while receiving Danish Queen Magrethe II and her spouse this afternoon, stated that the long-standing friendship between Việt Nam and Denmark is a solid foundation for the two sides to consolidate their bilateral multifaceted cooperation towards a stable partnership for mutual benefits.

Mr. Mạnh and Mr. Dũng expressed their pleasure to welcome the Danish royal family to Việt Nam and at the blossoming cooperation between the two countries in trade, investment, development aid, culture, tourism and climate change mitigation.

The chief of the Communist Party of Việt Nam was convinced that the Queen’s visit plants an important milestone in the Việt Nam-Denmark friendship and contributes to the cooperation between Việt Nam and the European Union (EU).

For his part, PM Dũng thanked Denmark for granting Việt Nam valuable ODA resources which have been fruitfully spent on poverty alleviation and economic integration.

Lauding Denmark’s recent decision to give Việt Nam US $40 million for projects on climate change and sea water rising, the Vietnamese PM hoped that the Northern European country will also pay attention to improving health and environment here.

He stated that the Danish Queen’s visit, together with his tour to Denmark in September 2009, will bring the bilateral relationship to a new height.

Queen Magrethe II hailed Việt Nam’s decision to dispatch its representatives to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen (COP 15) scheduled in December.

She pledged to continue backing Việt Nam in upgrading infrastructure, responding to climate change and developing culture.
