Leaders extend condolences over air crash in Laos

VGP – The Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, National Assembly, State, and Government of Viet Nam have sent a message of condolences to their Lao counterparts over the air accident, leaving some high-ranking officials.

Among the casualties were Politburo member Deputy PM and Minister of Defense Douangchay Phichit, LPRP Central Committee’s Secretary and Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Seng-aphone, LPRP Central Committee’s Secretary and Head of LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Training Cheuang Sombounkhanh, LPRP Central Committee’s Secretary and Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Vientiane Soukanh Mahalath.

This is the great loss of the Party, State, National Assembly and Government of Laos as well as the bereaved of the dead officials. The Vietnamese leaders and people also suffer from the loss of their close comrades and friends who made active contributions to consolidating and enhancing the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Viet Nam and Laos, the message reads.

The Vietnamese leaders expressed their belief that the Party, State and people of Laos will would surmount this great loss to continue their national construction, protection and development.

The Prime Minister's Office has issued an announcement that the An -74TK300 aircraft of the Lao air force has crashed at 7:00 AM on 17 May in Nadee village, Paek district of Xiengkouang province. The cause of accident is under the investigation, according to the Lao National News Agency./.
