Leaders of Vietnam’s Communist Party, Government and National Assembly meet with Russian President

VNGOVNet – In the afternoon of November 20 in Hanoi, Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and National Assembly Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng separately met with Russian President Vladimir Putin who has been in Vietnam for a State visit and participation in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.

President V. Putin showed his pleasure to have returned to Vietnam since four years ago. He said he recognized the country’s radical changes for the better. He expressed his wish that the Vietnam-Russia relationship would be further developed in a sustainable and stable way. There is a window for Russia to promote its cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of training, hydroelectricity, engineering, bauxite exploitation and processing, transport, post and telecommunication, metallurgy, nuclear electricity, cosmographic research for peaceful purposes.

The Vietnamese leaders highly appreciated the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and the former USSR and the present-day Russian Federation. They asserted that the developed cooperation and friendship between the two countries, together with the newly carried-out projects, would help to deepen the Vietnam-Russian traditional and strategic partnership.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng accepted the invitation of President V. Putin to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation.
