Leaders welcome Finnish PM

VGP – Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng and Vice State President Nguyễn Thị Doan separately received Finland’s PM Matti Vanhanen who is on a visit to Việt Nam.

Party chief Nông Đức Mạnh reconfirmed Việt Nam’s diplomatic policy which focuses on independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of external relations.

Việt Nam always attaches importance to its ties with Finland and will do its utmost to foster the bilateral friendship, said the host leader.

He expected to see stronger cooperation in trade promotion, investment, forestry, commodity exchange and migrant labor programs.

In his meeting with PM Matti Vanhanen on the same day, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng underscored that Việt Nam resolves to eradicate corruption, bureaucracy and prodigality, so the country wants to cooperate with Finland, especially through legislative channels.

Meanwhile, Vice State President Nguyễn Thị Doan showed his pleasure at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Việt Nam and Finland in industrial and labor policies.

The document was inked by Vietnamese PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Finnish PM Matti Vanhanen on Monday in Hà Nội.

PM Matti Vanhanen strongly believed that Finland and Việt Nam share many great advantages to nurture stable, long-term and fair cooperation for mutual benefits in various fields.

He stated that Finland is ready to support Việt Nam in anti-corruption.
