Lord Mayor of London praised VN’s response to economic downturn

VGP – Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman David Wootton praised Viet Nam’s flexible response to the global economic downturn and its comprehensive and effective policies for macro-economic stabilization and inflation curbing.

He made the comment when he paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in Ha Noi on September 24.

These policies have created favorable conditions for and consolidated trust of foreign investors in Viet Nam, he added.

Mr. David Woodtton affirmed that the UK hopes to further cooperation with Viet Nam in the fields of audit, securities and public-private cooperation.

Prime Minister Dung spoke highly of the outcomes of guest’s working sessions with Vietnamese agencies, saying that the visit would contribute to strengthening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially in areas of finance, securities, banking and insurance.

Viet Nam expects to receive greater cooperation and experience from the UK in such fields as finance, banking, the building of financial centers in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as personnel training for finance and banking sector, the Government chief said.
