MOH sends special working team to help Ha Noi fight COVID-19

VGP – The Ministry of Health (MOH) has sent a special working team to help Ha Noi suppress the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic from April 10.

The team is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Nhu Duong, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, who has acquired a lot of experience in curbing the epidemic outbreaks in Son Loi commune, Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province and in Binh Thuan province.

According to the national steering committee for COVID-19 response, as of April 9, there remained 3,310 people left at the Ha Noi-based Bach Mai Hospital, including patients, their relatives and medical workers.

The hospital has carried out 9,159 coronavirus tests, of which 8,929 samples were negative, 22 were positive (mainly employees of the Truong Sinh company), and 208 samples are waiting for results.

A total of 546 people are being isolated and monitored at three locations in the hospital, including the Center for Daytime Examination (170), the Rehabilitation Center (61) and Department of Neurology (315).

 Localities reviewed 53,592 people who came to Bach Mai Hospital from March 12, 2020, implementing isolated treatment for 28,810 of them and taking samples of another 23,305 people for testing.

Concerning the Buddha Bar outbreak (Ho Chi Minh City), a total of 4,466 people, 255 of whom had been directly present at the bar, were isolated and tested for coronavirus, with 4,416 having reported a negative result, 18 testing positive and the remainder waiting for the test results.

The COVID-19 outbreak in Ha Loi village, Me Linh commune, Me Linh district (Ha Noi) reported four positive cases, including three related to patient no. 243 (no. 250, 253 and 254).

Functional forces have put the entire village (2,711 households with 11,077 people) under quarantine, taking samples of 270 people who had close contacts with the confirmed patients.

Regarding patient no. 251 in Ha Nam province, 99 of the total 140 samples were reported negative, while the remaining samples are waiting for test results.

The national steering committee also said that the MOH has granted certificates to the Dong Nai General Hospital (Microbiology Department) and the An Giang Central General Hospital (Testing Department) to conduct tests for the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), increasing the total number of Vietnamese laboratories authorized to perform the tests to 39.

At the same time, the ministry has formed two inspection delegations on the compliance with regulations on hospital separation as well as prevention of COVID-19 infection in medical establishments.
