MOIT to speed up trade promotion in North America

VGP – The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) is planning to speed up trade promotion activities in Mexico and Canada as part of its export program 2010.

Vietnamese fresh fruits are among favorite commodities in the North America Free Trade Area
Major commodities include garments, footwear, aqua-products, wooden products and processed food, and handicraft goods.

Promotion activities are scheduled to take place mainly in Toronto and Mexico City, said the Ministry.

The North American Free Trade Area (NAFTA), with a compound population of 520 million, is Việt Nam’s key export market, especially for Vietnamese fruits.

Data show that Việt Nam shipped some US $2.8 million of fruits in July 2010 alone, or up by 21.7% against the same period last year. The US accounts for 82.5% of Việt Nam’s export turnover to the NAFTA.

It is forecast that the country’s export volume to those markets will rise dramatically in the rest months of this year.
