Made-in-VN 3G applications and services to make debut year end

VGP - Việt Nam’s biggest mobile operators, Vinaphone, Viettel and MobiFone, and the Joint Venture EVN Telecom-Vietnamobile will officially introduce their 3G technology-based infrastructure, terminals and applications at the Vietnam Comm and Vietnam Electronics 2009 scheduled on November 18-21 in Hà Nội.

June 28, 2009 12:10 PM GMT+7

The Government is striving to turn Việt Nam into one of the world's most attractive ICT markets

Some 200 IT and telecommunication enterprises from 12 countries and territories will join the Vietnam Comm and Vietnam Electronics 2009, said the Việt Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).

They will showcase 3G solutions, technologies and products.

Meanwhile, the host Governmental agencies and enterprises introduce such important IT solutions and initiatives for broadband, fixed-mobile convergence, customer service and management system, united infrastructure and relating equipment, information transmission via optical cable, light quantum, optoelectronics and so on.

Moreover, there will be some forums on opportunities and development trends of telecom-IT sector, IT reform and 3G technology applications in production and business.

Việt Nam’s telecom-IT sector earned US $5.4 billion in 2008, up 38% against the figure of 2007, said the VNPT.

The major mobile operators were licensed in April by the Ministry of Information and Communications to develop 3G technology and plan to invest over US $2 billion in the technology in the next three years.

The State’s determination to speed up IT applications and 3G technology development is expected to help turn the country into the world’s new emerging telecom-IT market with an estimated turnover of around US $10 billion in 2010.
