Malaysia’s Independence Day observed in HCM City

Addressing the event, Chairman of the Viet Nam-Malaysia Friendship Association Tran Ngoc Son recalled some of the milestones in Viet Nam-Malaysia ties, stressing that the bilateral relations have been expanded in such fields like economy, trade, and investment.

Both nations have enhanced the exchange of high-level delegations to improve political trust, while effectively coordinating at regional and international forums, he said.

About 65,000 Vietnamese people are currently living in Malaysia, serving as a bridge to foster the friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations. In addition, the bilateral cooperation in culture, education, labour, and sports have been strengthened, contributing towards the Vietnam-Malaysia friendship, Son noted.

In turn, acting Consul General Raja Hanizam Putra noted the establishment of the Strategic Partnership has created optimal conditions for the two countries to bolster collaboration, notably in investment promotion, trade, and economic exchange.

The two countries have worked to bring bilateral trade to US$15 billion by 2020 in line with huge potential for economic cooperation, he added.

Registering some US$ 13 billion in 600 projects, Malaysia is among large foreign investors in Viet Nam.
