The conference will lay a foundation for the Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum, which is scheduled for this November in the province.

The Southwestern Region Steering Committee reported that the conference targets to introduce and publicize the region’s potential and advantages, and create favorable conditions for investors to access key projects and learn about investment policies and preferential mechanisms.

The committee is expected to establish a social welfare fund for the Mekong Delta region and call on domestic and foreign businesses and organizations to join hands to promote social welfare in the region.

In the time leading up to the conference, the committee hopes to mobilize more than VND500 billion (US$24 million) for social welfare activities and over VND147 trillion (US$7 billion) to promote investment in the Mekong Delta region./.
