The production of these figurines is the result of a project titled “Viet Nam’s eminent generals” organised by Heritage Inns with Circle Group in collaboration with the Viet Nam History Association and UNESCO in Ha Noi.

The four outstanding tacticians represent thousands of excellent generals who have served the country in various periods of its 4000-year history.

Large statues of Tran Quoc Tuan and Nguyen Hue already stand proudly in the cities of Nam Dinh and Ha Noi, and will be duplicated for the smaller models.

The production of the statues and making them special gifts will bring the image of these national heroes more closely to life, said Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien.

The samples of the Ly Thuong Kiet and General Vo Nguyen Giap figurines have already been shown to experts and the public for feedback. They are scheduled to be officially introduced on the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory in May 2014.

The figurines will be made from different materials, including bronze, stone and plaster. The sculptors are working extremely hard to ensure that the statues will be flawless and suitably revive the spirits of this illustrious quartet.

When completed, they will make wonderful gifts, helping Vietnamese people understand more about their heroes and making them proud of the nation’s history.-VNA
