Ministries, agencies, localities urged to ensure transport safety

VGP – Permanent Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh has directly pointed out responsibilities of ministries, agencies, and localities in ensuring transport safety.

October 17, 2019 2:53 PM GMT+7

Deputy PM Binh who is President of the National Committee for Traffic Safety presided over a teleconference on nine-month operation of the body on October 16 in Ha Noi.

In Q3, the whole political system and people proactively deployed measures to reduce traffic accidents in three criteria. Specifically, the number of traffic accidents dropped by 4.28% (567 cases); the number of deaths decreased by 5.87% (down 353); and the number of injuries declined by 6.78% (down 700).

The Deputy PM applauded the National Committee for Traffic Safety, relevant ministries and agencies for their contributions to raising people’s awareness of transport safety.

However, the Government also pointed out violations on transport safety regulations, road and railway safe corridors, alcohol concentration in blood, and serious traffic accidents.

Especially, the problem of traffic congestion in big urban areas such as Ha Noi, HCMC, Da Nang, Hai Phong, and Nha Trang was on the rise and became more complicated.

Mr. Binh tasked the National Committee for Traffic Safety to urge ministries, agencies, and localities to implement the year plan on transport safety and disseminate regulations on transport safety.

The Government leader noticed the necessity of terminating ‘black’ points vulnerable to road accidents; repairing runways at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports; craft transportation plans on New Year Festival and Lunar New Year Festival.

The Ministry of Public Security was asked to build and perfect regulations on transport safety; inspect and discover infringements on alcohol concentration and helmet  and seatbelt wearing, using mobile phones while driving; and launch campaigns on transport safety./.
