MoET adjusts school timetables due to COVID-19 outbreak

VGP – The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) has officially adjusted key timetables for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Deputy Director General of the Secondary Education Department under the MoET reported that the Minister of Education and Training on February 22 sent a dispatch to chairpersons of the provincial and municipal’s people’s committees nationwide on school reopening from March 2, after three-week school closures due to the COVID-19 epidemic. 

Especially, the ministry adjusted the timetable for the 2019-2020 school year for pre-school education, general education, and continuing education.

According to the Ministry, the 2019-2020 academic year will end on June 30 and the national examination will take place from July 23 to 26. 

Schools will accommodate their plans of the academic year to the Ministry’s adjustment and prepare for the new school year.

The Ministry also asked chairpersons of the provincial and municipal people’s committees across the country to keep an eye on preventive measures to ensure students’ safety as per the Ministry’s guideline and local medical centers.

Before, the Chairman of People’s Committee in Ho Chi Minh City had proposed to extend school break to the end of March./.
