Deputy PM Hải made the statement at the MoT’s meeting to review its 2010 performance and discuss the implementation of 2011 tasks in Hà Nội on February 14.

The Deputy PM asked the MoT to take advantage of capital sources from foreign organizations, including the International Climate Change Prevention Fund.

The ministry plans to build and upgrade some 800 km of roads and construct 10 km of bridges, and try to complete and hand over more than 10 large projects., said Deputy Minister of Transport Ngô Thịnh Đức.

He added that the MoT will strive to increase goods transport by 8-10 percent and passenger transport by 9-10 percent, as well as reduce the number of casualties by traffic accidents by at least 3 percent.

It will also speed up the issuance of technical standards in traffic work infrastructure construction as well as improve consultancy work and project management.
