Since 2010, the program of developing houses for low-income earners has been implemented nationwide.

After one year, as much as 37 projects were ground-broken with the total investment of VND 3,600 billion (US $180 million). These projects are expected to provide accommodations for around 64,000 people. So far, 1,653 apartments have been completed and 728 ones have been sold out.

In addition, around 190 projects with a total investment of VND 28,000 billion (US $1.4 billion) have been registered. In the 2011-2015 period, these projects may supply houses for around 700,000 low-income earners, said Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyễn Trần Nam.

Businesses involved in building low-cost houses have been given a great number of incentives in terms of land-use tax exemption, land rental charges, corporate income tax reducing from normal rate of 25% to 10%./.
