More than 10,000 people receive first shot of COVID-19 vaccine over last week

VGP – As of March 13, a total number of 10,041 people residing in 12 localities nationwide were vaccinated with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Ministry of Health.

Health workers are among priority groups vaccinated first in Viet Nam

The figure consists of 6,287 in Hai Duong Province-the current biggest coronavirus hotspot in Viet Nam, 163 in Ha Noi, 840 in Hung Yen Province, 312 in Bac Ninh Province, 823 in Bac Giang Province, 205 in Hai Phong City, 774 in Ho Chi Minh City, 200 in Gia Lai Province, 193 in Long An Province, 117 in Da Nang City, 32 in Hoa Binh Province and 95 in Khanh Hoa Province.

The vaccinated front liners are medical workers, contact-tracing and quarantine staff and members of community-based COVID-19 prevention teams. 

There has been no case of severe allergic reaction to the vaccine reported so far.

Viet Nam launched its largest-ever vaccination campaign on March 8, with up to 100 million doses to be administered to people nationwide.

As of late March 13, Viet Nam has recorded 2,553 COVID-19 infection cases, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The patient tally includes 2,086 recoveries and 35 fatalities./.
