NA Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng (R) and President of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Parliament of the French-speaking Community Jean-Charles Luperto, Hà Nội, February 20, 2012

At the meeting with President of the Wallonie-Bruxelles Parliament of the French-speaking Community, Jean-Charles Luperto, NA Chairman Hùng said the ties of friendship and cooperation between Việt Nam and Belgium are developing well in various fields, adding that the two sides should strengthen their relationships for further mutual benefit.

Mr. Luperto said the Wallonie-Bruxelles Parliament always supports strengthening its relationship with Việt Nam, considering it a priority in Belgium’s external relations.

In the context of the current global economic difficulties, it is essential to enhance cooperation between the Vietnamese NA and the Wallonie-Bruxelles Parliament, as well as between the two countries, in order to share and maintain the development of both sides, Mr Luperto added.

The same day, at a reception for the Iranian Ambassador Seyed Javad Ghavam Shahidi, who paid a farewell visit before ending his term in Vietnam, NA Chairman Sinh Hùng praised Ambassador Shahidi’s efforts and contributions to strengthening the solidarity and multifaceted cooperation between Việt Nam and Iran.

Việt Nam and Iran have favourable geographical positions and great potential for strong economic development which will provide impetus for both countries to boost cooperation, Mr. Hùng said.

He said he hopes that Ambassador Shahidi, in any position, will always act as a bridge of friendship to promote cooperative relations between Việt Nam and Iran.

The Iranian diplomat said he is very impressed by Việt Nam's achievements in its process of national construction and socio-economic development.

Vietnamese and Iranian legislative bodies should develop their relationship to improve substantial and effective cooperation, said Ambassador Shahidi./.
