NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng had talks with his Lao counterpart, during which he confirmed that the Vietnamese NA is now renovating its organization and performance to expand bilateral and multilateral ties with other parliaments. He added that Vietnam's NA pledges to try best in maintaining and strengthening the special traditional friendship between the Vietnamese and Lao states and peoples in particular and in solidifying the solidarity within ASEAN-AIPO in general for the sake of peace, stability and development. To celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic tie and the 30th anniversary of the Cooperation and Friendship Agreement between the two Governments, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng suggested that the two sides should consider this an important opportunity to educate their young generations about the special solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Lao NA Chairman Thongsing Thamavong proposed the two legislatures to further cooperate and exchange their delegations at different echelons in order to share experience and support each other on international forums.

After the talks, the two NA Chairmen signed a cooperation agreement between the two legislative bodies.

On the same day, NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng had meetings with the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party General Secretary and President Choumaly Sayasone and Lao PM Bouasone Bouphavanh.
