NA, People’s Committee election results released

VGP – The Central Election Council on Friday announced the results of the elections to 13th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.

Secretary of the Central Election Council Phạm Minh Tuyên said that the elections successfully wrapped up in a democratic, equal, legal, and safe manner. It was truly the “festival of whole nation”.

As many as 61,965,651 out of 62,269,175 voters cast their ballots for members of the 13th National Assembly and local People's Councils, accounting for 99.51%.

Localities with a high rate of voters performing their duty included Lai Châu, Hà Giang, Hòa Bình, Lạng Sơn with 99.99%. Bắc Ninh had the lowest rate of 94.22%. 

Of 500 elected deputies to the 13th National Assembly, 491 people hold tertiary or master degrees, the Central Election Council said. 

The structure of the elected deputies include 78 ethnic people, 122 women, 42 non-party members, 62 people under age 40, and 4 self-nominated people. 

Elections to local People’s Councils have set to name 306,068 new members out of 472,528 candidates. However, after the elections, provincial People’s Councils are short of 8, district and communal levels, 47 and 2,962, respectively. 

The Central Election Council said that it is instructing localities to organize additional elections to fill in the shortage.
