NA Standing Committee’s 16th session starts

VGP- In the 16th session, which runs on March 18-22, the National Assembly’s Standing Committee will discuss some draft laws and decrees as well as the preparation for the National Assembly’s 5th meeting which is scheduled in May this year. An interpellation will be organized on the last day of the session.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said that during March 18, the Standing Committee will discuss revisions and supplementations to the Law on Value-added Tax and the Law on Enterprise Income Tax as well as the bill revising the Law on Thrift Practice and Anti-prodigality.

The Committee will also approve on the Ordinance amending some articles in the Ordinance on Foreign Remittance. The NA Chairman said that those draft laws are important as they involved in restructuring the economy, attracting foreign investment and boosting economic growth.

The Standing Committee will also discuss the draft Law on Citizen Reception, the revised and supplemented Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting, the draft law revising and supplementing the Law on Emulation and Commendation, the draft law revising and supplementing the Law on Residence, the preparation of the NA and the Standing Committee’s activities, and the project on the organizational reform of the NA.

Also at the session, the Standing Committee will discuss preparations for the vote of confidence at the 5th meeting for those who were elected or appointed by the NA. The Chairman stressed that this is the first time the NA conducts the vote so the implementation must be careful and well-prepared. The voting must enhance accountability and performance of the related people.

In the last day of its session, March 22, the Standing Committee will organize a Q&A session. As scheduled, the Judge of the People’s Supreme Court Nguyen Hoa Binh and Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan will answer questions from the Standing Committee.
