NA approves next year's socio-economic development goals
VGP - The National Assembly approved socio-economic development goals for 2021, including the projected GDP growth rate of 6%, put forth by the Government on Wednesday morning.
As many as 430 out of 439 legislators voted in favor of a Resolution on the Government-initiated socio-economic development plan for 2021 during the 10th working session of the 14th National Assembly.
Under the resolution, Viet Nam will continue effective implementation of measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic and foster recovery and development on the basis of maintaining macro-economic stability, controlling inflation, and promoting economic restructuring in association with renewing growth model, improving labor capacity and resillience and competitiveness of the economic, and advancing the development of the domestic market.
The country will also focus on advancing the development of high-quality human resources, strengthening the effectiveness of law enforcement and anti-corruption work, promoting the role of its key economic zones, ensuring social security, and adapting to climate change among others.
Specific goals include attaining the GDP growth rate of 6%, raising the per capita income to US$3,700 and the health insurance coverage to 91%.
The proportion of trained laborers is expected to increase to 66% while the total factor productivity (TFP) contribution to GDP growth is projected to rise to 45-47%.
In addition, the multidimensional poverty rate is expected to dip by 1-1.5 percentage point and 90% of urban dwellers could access to clean water through centralized water supply system.
