Nationwide anti-drug operation begins in June

VGP – The PM has requested ministries, agencies, localities, the National Committee for Prevention and Control of AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution to launch a month-long campaign to combat drugs.

May 22, 2013 1:54 PM GMT+7

The June-long campaign will work to raise public awareness of drug-related crimes and evils especially synthetic drugs.

It will focus on vulnerable groups including the youth and teenagers in urban areas; pupils, students and people in drugs hot spots; workers at industrial parks; transport workers, migrant workers, chemical producers and businesses.

The campaign will target to encourage people to detect and denounce drug crimes and support drug addicts to undergo detoxification and reintegrate into the community.

The dissemination of drug prevention and fight will be mixed with cultural, sport and art events to effectively combat drugs.

The PM has also asked police forces to crack down on drug criminals especially in the Northwest Region, the Centre, the Southwest Region and international airports and eradicate drug plants.

The People's Supreme Procuracy, the People's Supreme Court, and courts at all levels are in charge of working with police forces to judge drug cases to prevent crime at the grassroots./.
