Of the sum, VND 794 billion was used to assist people who have rendered service to the nation, VND 352 billion reserved for poor families, and VND 1,717 billion for other social aids.

Thanks to these efforts, between-crop hunger in rural areas has been curbed considerably.

Between January and September, Viet Nam has had 401,400 households suffering from hunger or facing food shortages, down 30.7% year on year.

So far this year, sectors and localities nationwide have provided poor families with 21,600 tons of food and VND 24.4 billion in aid.
