VNGOVNet – In line with Vietnam’s persistent policy of striving for peace, opposing arm races, preventing the proliferation of mass destruction weapons, including nuclear weapons, towards the comprehensive and complete disarmament and on the proposal of Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, on November 15, 2006, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết decided that Vietnam will sign an Additional Protocol to its International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards agreement under the Treaty on the Non-proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The signing will show the commitment of Vietnam as a UN member to strengthening peace and international security.
