VNGOVNet – The PM approved on January 02, 2007 the revised Urban Plan of Nha Trang City, Khánh Hòa Province, to 2025. Under the plan, Nha Trang will become an economic, science and technology, education and training hub of a large region including the south-central coast and the Central Highlands. The city will also be a significant tourist destination for domestic and international arrivals and a political, economic, cultural, scientific, and technical centre with an important geographic position for national defense and security of Khánh Hòa Province.

The orientation to develop Nha Trang City is mapped out in reference to the central key economic region, the south-central coast, the whole country and the world.

The City's development will be associated with other developed areas of the province, such as the Vân Phong Economic Zone, Cam Ranh Bay, as well as others in the key economic region of Central Vietnam. Local nature reserves and ecosystem will be preserved, embellished and used properly.

The goal is to build a modern and civilized tourist city of sustainable development. The city will readjust economic structure for tourist and trade purposes. It will switch the Nha Trang Airport to other uses for socio-economic development, improve technical infrastructure and refurbish valuable architectures.

The City will sprawl to the south and southwest with marine and mountain resorts to form a national tourist chain from Nha Trang-Cam. The existing urban quarter in the north will be upgraded into a centre of education and training, industry, railway, and greening. The western part will be developed into a new urban area with commercial, service, administrative and residential functions to relieve the population pressure from the city center.

The PM assigned the Khánh Hòa Province People’s Committee to make a drawing in line with the revised plan and draft regulations on construction management for the plan.
