Nigerian businesses seek opportunities in VN

The companies specialize in petroleum, energy, electricity, electronics, food, pharmaceuticals, garments, plastics, finance and banking, printing, mining, telecommunication, maritime, transport, construction, mechanics, auto and cosmetics. 
During the visit, the delegation, which includes officials from some Nigerian ministries and organizations, will attend a Nigeria-Việt Nam forum on investment and business cooperation in Hồ Chí Minh City on April 20 and in Hà Nội on April 23.

The forum follows the successful bilateral investment and business forum held in Hà Nội late last year, said Phạm Văn Công, Vietnamese Trade Councilor to Nigeria, adding that it will give chances for business people from the two countries to meet, develop cooperative ties and concretize what they did at last year’s forum.
According to Mr. Công, Nigeria is a potential market in Africa and a transit point for Vietnamese goods to enter Western African countries.

Early this month, 35 Nigerian entrepreneurs visited Việt Nam and attended a trade promotion roundtable. Addressing the event, Nigerian Charge d’Affaires to Việt Nam Sani Bako pledged to facilitate the grating of visas to Vietnamese businesses to seek investment and trade opportunities there. He also expressed his willingness to boost agricultural cooperation with Việt Nam.
According to Việt Nam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, two-way trade turnover valued more than US $105 million last year. The major trading items included rubber, household utensils, footwear, plastic products, handicraft goods, building materials, unprocessed cashew nuts, fruits, cotton and mineral resources.
