Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Foreign Ministry Luong Thanh Nghi announced that so far about 3,000 overseas Vietnamese enterprises are operating in 52 provinces and cities in Viet Nam with a total investment of US$ 4 billion.

According to Mr. Nghi, Vietnamese overseas investors mainly came from the U.S., Canada, Australia, Russia, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Poland, and Switzerland. They focused on such areas as export production, trade, tourism, construction, real estate, aquaculture cultivation, and software industry.

He quoted a WB’s report as saying that in 2019, overseas remittances were estimated at US$ 16.7 billion. In three consecutive years, Viet Nam was listed in Top 10 countries receiving the largest amounts of overseas remittances. HCMC is forecast the biggest overseas remittance recipient in the country.

According to the Vice Chairman, the Vietnamese overseas community has developed strongly; played a greater role in host countries; and taken trade promotion activities with domestic enterprises, ministries, sectors, and localities./.
