PM Dung leaves for World Economic Forum

VGP - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung left Ha Noi today for the 2013 World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in Naypyidaw, Myanmar at the invitation of Myanmar President U Thein Sein and WEF Chairman Klaus Schwab.

PM Dung is accompanied by Minister – Head of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Quan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee on Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Tien, Assistant to the PM Bui Quoc Bao and Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Phan Thanh Dung.

The Vietnamese delegation’s attendance realizes the country’s foreign policy of being proactive and active in international integration, enhances the cooperation between Viet Nam and the forum and promotes the country’s image and position in the region through sharing experience drawn in socio-economic development, macro-economic stabilization and foreign investment attraction.

Under the theme “Courageous Transformation for Inclusion and Integration,” the three-day forum will focus on three main contents, including boosting Myanmar’s comprehensive transformation, realizing regional integration and scaling regional solutions and responses to global challenges.

Viet Nam has been invited to attend the WEF’s annual conferences in Davos, Switzerland and other meetings on East Asia since 1989.

Recognising the country’s outstanding economic achievements, the WEF Chairman invited PM Dung to attend the WEF in 2007.

Viet Nam hosted the 19th WEF in Ho Chi Minh City in 2010.
