PM Dũng believed that the Singaporean Deputy PM’s visit would help push the relationship between Việt Nam and Singapore to a new plane.

The Government of Việt Nam would try its best to put into reality the agreements signed by the two defense ministries, particularly in the fields of delegation exchange, naval cooperation, military industries, and foreign languages training, confirmed the Government chief, hoping that the two ASEAN members would continue to expand military cooperation for firm stability, peace, and development of ASEAN bloc and the world as a whole.

Mr. Teo Chee Hean informed that during his earlier meeting with Minister of National Defense Phùng Quang Thanh, the two defense agencies had been unanimous in a wide range of issues and reached a Cooperation Agreement which is expected to boost military linkages in the time to come.

Now, Singapore is one of Việt Nam’s leading trade partners, especially since the Framework Agreement on connecting the Vietnamese and Singaporean economies (signed in 2005) came into effect.
